Jamboree Heights

Jamboree Heights, a residential suburb, is 14 km south-west of central Brisbane. In the early 1960s Centenary Estates Ltd was developing the nearby suburb of Jindalee and building the Centenary Bridge across which the Western Freeway (1969) would run. The Queensland Scout movement was organising the 8th national scout jamboree (1967) and in co-operation with Centenary Estates chose a site in the company's projected development programme. Woggle, Pack and Troop Streets, Jamboree Heights, signify the origin of the name of the suburb.
