Sheldon

Sheldon is a rural/residential suburb of Redland City between Capalaba and Mount Cotton, 22 km south-east of central Brisbane. It was formally named in 1980. 'Sheldon' is an old English (Derbyshire) expression describing steep hills or a wooded valley.

The Tingalpa Creek flows from Mount Cotton through Sheldon to the Leslie Harrison dam/Tingalpa reservoir (1968), part of Redland City's water supply. Much of Sheldon serves as a catchment for the water. The resulting bushland areas join the Koala Bushlands in Burbank.
