Ormeau Hills is a residential suburb adjoining the Pacific Motorway about midway between Beenleigh and Sanctuary Cove, 48 km south-east of central Brisbane.
Until 2003, when Ormeau Hills was formally named, it was part of Ormeau, a much larger suburb on the Pacific Highway extending north from the Pimpama River to Yatala. 'Ormeau' was a sugar plantation (1871) in the former farm district.
Ormeau Hills was a residential project begun in 1994. Its first six stages offered land or house-and-land packages; the final three stages offered duplexes, and their construction was scheduled to start in 2008-09. The estate has about 430 lots, plus a site reserved for retail and a child-care facility. Meanwhile there is shopping and child-care in South Ormeau, on Ormeau Hills' side of the motorway.
Ormeau Hills census population in 2006 was 794 and there were 264 dwellings, all detached houses.
