Rural View is a residential suburb 10 km north of central Mackay. It is west of Eimeo and south of Bucasia, both longer established places that are also outer suburbs of Mackay. The Eimeo Road primary school (1934) is in Rural View.
Formally named in 1999, Rural View has modern houses on allotments of mostly above-average size. The dominant occupations are technicians and trades, and the median weekly income per resident is 2006 was $666 (Australia $466). There are shopping centres along the Mackay – Bucasia Road, one in Rural View, where there is also a bowling club. The population, however, is relatively youthful, with a median age of 32 years (Australia 37 years) in 2006.
