Doonan is a rural/residential district immediately south of Tewantin and east of Eumundi. Its main through route is Eumundi-Noosa Road, from which there are numerous roads with hilltop views. Duke Road, considered to be a prestige address, leads to Panorama Drive with the Bicentennial Lookout.
The district is drained to the south-east by Doonan Creek, from which it probably took its name. Formal naming occurred in the early 1990s. The name was possibly derived from an Aboriginal expression.
Rural/residential real estate is the district's main industry. There is a shopping area in Eumundi-Noosa Road near the Sunshine Coast Recreational and Educational park, and the Noosa Steiner School (1996) is a short distance east. Noosa Valley Country Club is in the direction of Eumundi.
