Forestdale is a rural/residential suburb in Logan City, 21 km south of central Brisbane and immediately west of the Greenbank Military Area. It is the westernmost of four suburbs that once comprised the southern part of Browns Plains. It is thought that Forestdale was the name given by a land developer. Recognised as a postal address in 1981, Forestdale was approved as a place name by Logan City Council in 1987.
The Oxley Creek runs off the military area into Forestdale and it is enclosed by a linear park and wetlands. Named Greenwood Lakes, that particular part of the suburb pursues a Robin Hood theme, with Longbow Crescent and Robin Court.
All dwellings are detached houses, usually on an acre of land. Forestdale is accessible only from Johnson Road, its northern boundary; the other boundaries are the military area and, on the east, the interstate railway line. There are a shopping area and parks with play facilities near Johnson Road.
