Wongaling Beach is a coastal town in the Cardwell Shire, located a few kilometres south of Mission Beach and opposite Dunk Island. 'Wongaling' is believed to be the Aboriginal name for a local watercourse, today known as Porter's Creek. The beach was formally named in 1966.
The town serves as a dormitory and service centre for tourism and accommodation associated with Mission Beach, with a water taxi operating to Dunk Island. It has a modern shopping centre and a Rotary Park, which is used as a community gathering place. Wongaling Beach also houses the Mission Beach State school, which was relocated into its current premises in 1993. There are two caravan parks.
