Battery Hill

Battery Hill, a residential suburb, is 3 km north of central Caloundra and adjoins Dicky Beach. The hill, originally known as Ballingers Hill, is north-west of the intersection of Beerburrum and Coonowrin Streets. In the early 1880s the site was identified for defensive purposes, probably for use as an early warning station in the event of an invasion, and the present name probably derives from that time.
