Kinka Beach

Kinka Beach is ten km south-east of Yeppoon and six km north-west of Emu Park. It is thought that the name was derived from an Aboriginal word describing an owl or mopoke. Now a beach-side village, the place was known only as Kinka when a stopping place on the railway line (1888) from Rockhampton to Emu Park. Queensland Archives has a record of a primary school (c1913-36).
