Rosenthal Shire

Rosenthal Shire, an area of 1968 sq km, was immediately west and south-west of Warwick. Its area included the hilly ranges running out of Stanthorpe and the southern fringe of the Darling Downs. The Shire was named after the Rosenthal pastoral station, an area originally larger than the Shire. It became a famed merino breeding property, remaining intact until after the Land Act 1868 which brought about its reduction for farm selections.
