Shailer Park

Shailer Park, a residential suburb, is seven km south-east of Logan Central and 26 km south-east of central Brisbane. It was named after the Shailer family. Francis Shailer (1816-1909) emigrated from England in 1865 and settled in the Logan district. At various times he was the teacher at Slacks Creek School, clerk of the local Tingalpa divisional board and stalwart of the Beenleigh Agricultural Society. His great grandson was an Albert Shire councillor and mayor of Logan City, 1982-85.
